We believe a person’s past should not permanently define their future. Beyond Bars works with prison communities, trainers, mentors, partners and employers to create practical rehabilitation programmes that prepare participants for life beyond prison walls.
What we work
Beyond Bars is a social enterprise that supports incarcerated individuals, parolees and marginalised communities with practical skills, mentoring and reintegration pathways, helping them rebuild confidence, access livelihood opportunities and contribute positively to society. Through vocational training, life skills, mentorship, counselling and job-readiness support, we help participants build the confidence and capabilities needed for reintegration.

Impact Areas
We equip incarcerated individuals and marginalised communities with the skills, confidence and support systems needed to rebuild their lives and reintegrate with dignity.
Improved Self-Efficacy
Participants build confidence, self-awareness and belief in their own ability to change. This is important because reintegration requires more than technical skills; it requires the personal conviction that a different future is possible.
Enhanced Livelihood Opportunities
Participants are exposed to practical skills and job-readiness support that can improve their ability to access employment, enterprise, vocational pathways or income-generating activities after release.
Reduced Recidivism Rate
By strengthening support networks, mentoring, practical skills and livelihood readiness, Beyond Bars contributes to reducing the factors that may lead to reoffending. This impact should be tracked carefully over time together with relevant partners.
What we do
We design customised programmes for learners in prisons and individuals preparing for reintegration. Each programme is nurturing yet structured, combining practical skills training with confidence building, life skills, mentoring and support from trainers, prison officers and partners.
